Bridget "Bridie" Griffin (Cormican), of N. Weymouth, formerly of Milton, passed away peacefully on July 22nd, at the Queen Anne Nursing Home in Hingham. Born into the lush landscapes of County Galway, Loughrea, Ireland, Bridie's journey began as a beacon of light that would shine brightly throughout her years.
Bridie's early life in Ireland was filled with the love of learning and caring for others, a trait that would define her professional and personal life. She completed her primary education in her homeland before venturing to London, where she pursued her passion for nursing. Her dedication to the well-being of others was evident in her many years of service as a nurse, first in London and later in San Francisco. Bridie's compassionate spirit and skilled hands brought comfort and healing to countless individuals.
After her illustrious nursing career, Bridie, alongside her late beloved husband, Andrew Griffin, embarked on a new adventure as they ran the Kincora Hotel in Lisdoonvarna, which was widely known for some of the country’s best musicians. Their joint venture was a testament to their teamwork and shared entrepreneurial spirit.
Bridie's love for life did not stop at her professional endeavors. She was the heart and soul of any gathering, bringing joy and laughter with her wherever she went. Traveling was one of her greatest pleasures, and she seized every opportunity to explore new places and embrace different cultures. However, her true passion lay within the bounds of her family, especially her 12 grandchildren, in whom she instilled the same zest for life that she carried within her.
Bridie was the beloved wife of the late Andrew Griffin and a devoted mother to Breeda Considine and her husband Patrick of Falmouth, Kevin Griffin and his wife Monica of South Boston, Maureen Griffin of South Weymouth, and Thomas Griffin and his wife Maura of Milton. She was a loving sister to James Cormican and his wife Sally of Milton, Theresa Freeman and her late husband Jay of Whitman, and Rose Dervan and her late husband Tony of Ireland. She held dear the memory of her late brothers Michael Cormican and his wife Lucy Cormican of Ireland, Sean Cormican and his wife Peggy Cormican of Wollaston, and her late sister Maureen Corry and her late husband Michael.
Bridie's legacy is further celebrated by her 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild, each of whom carries a piece of her indomitable spirit and boundless love.
As we bid farewell to Bridie Griffin, we reflect on a life well-lived, a journey of compassion, joy, and unwavering dedication to family. Her laughter, her stories, and her nurturing presence will be dearly missed but never forgotten. Bridie's life was a tapestry of love, woven with the threads of her Irish heritage, her devotion to nursing, and the unbreakable bonds of family. May her memory continue to inspire and guide us, just as her life has been a beacon of hope and happiness. Rest in peace, dear Bridie. Your light will forever shine in the hearts of those you've touched.
