Brian G. Ahern

Brian G. Ahern, a man known for his care free spirit, passed away in East Liverpool, Ohio, on May 14, 2025, at the age of 59. Born on October 9, 1965, to the late William F. Ahern Jr. and Corinne F. Ahern (Ryan), Brian's life was marked by his love for working outdoors and ability to make friends anywhere.

Brian grew up in Milton, MA, where he attended Milton High School. He served in the U.S. Army. After his military service, Brian worked briefly as an EMT, with Fallon Ambulance in Milton. He also lived Randolph, andrecently in East Liverpool, Ohio.

Brian’s true vocation was landscaping work. After learning the trade from his Dad, Bill Ahern, he spent many years nurturing the green spaces of Milton and Dorchester with Acme Tree Service and Donovan's Landscaping in Milton. He loved working outdoors and getting his hands dirty.

Brian's social nature was legendary; he could strike up a conversation with anyone—or anything, some claiming that he could even chat with a telephone pole. He was very proud of his Irish heritage. He twice travelled to the home of his grandparents, Co. Cork in Southwest Ireland, where he kissed the Blarney Stone and no doubt acquired his “gift of the gab”.

Brian loved the outdoors, and he found peace there. Whether he was mowing lawns, trimming trees, planting and shaping shrubs, or simply taking a walk in the park atthe Wharf by the Ohio River in East Liverpool, heembraced every opportunity to be outside working or exploring..

Brian is survived by his loving family; his sister, Maureen I. Ahern, and her late husband Maceo Dillard of Mansfield; his brother, Michael E. Ahern and his wife Susan of Plymouth; his aunt Carol Ahern, of Lakeland, Florida; his former stepchildren, Kristin Walker and Paul Hammond of East Liverpool; his special friend, Heidi Gallagher of East Liverpool, and many cousins and friends who will miss him dearly. He is preceded in death by his parents, William F. Ahern Jr., Corinne F. Ahern (Ryan), and his late brother,William F. “Billy” Ahern, III.

Those who knew Brian will remember him not just for his friendly and funny nature, but also for his warmth and kindness. Brian's life will be celebrated in the hearts of his family and friends, where his stories, his laughter, and his spirit will continue to inspire and bring smiles. As we say goodbye to Brian, we take comfort in knowing that his journey was full of love, friendship, and the great outdoors he cherished so much.

Visiting hours will be held at the Alfred D. Thomas Funeral Home 326 Granite Ave Milton on Wednesday May 28th from 4:00-7:00pm. Burial will take place the following day, Thursday May 29th at Gethsemane Cemetery, Boston at 11:00am.
