Bartley G. Collins, born on April 7, 1934, in Co, Castlegar, Galway, Ireland, passed away on April 5, 2026, at home in Dorchester surrounded by his loving family.
Bartley was born, raised, and educated in Galway, Ireland, and carried with him throughout his life the values, traditions, and strong sense of family that shaped his early years. In 1957, he immigrated to the United States and made his home in Dorchester, where he built a life marked by hard work, dedication, and devotion to those he loved. He answered the call to serve his country in the United States Army, a commitment that reflected his sense of duty and quiet strength.
For 30+ years, Bartley worked for Carpenters Local 67 in Boston, where he earned the respect of his colleagues as a skilled finish carpenter. He took great pride in his craft and was known for the care, precision, and pride he brought to every job. His contributions extended beyond the worksite as well, as he served as a member of the Board of Directors for Local 67.
Bartley was deeply connected to his Irish heritage and remained active in the community throughout his life. He was a member of the Irish Cultural Center in Canton, where he was proud to be part of Father Tom’s Hurling Club. He also gave his time and presence to the Irish Pastoral Center in Dorchester and the Quincy Knights of Columbus. He valued these affiliations and the friendships and shared traditions that came with them.
He was the beloved husband of the late Teresa (Feeney), and their life together was one of enduring love and family devotion. Bartley was a proud and loving father to Michael Collins and his wife Dawn of Lakeville, Tommy Collins and his wife Carole of Hyde Park, Jimmy Collins and his wife Joyelle of Scituate, and Kathy Carlson and her husband Jack of Dorchester. He was the brother of Sally Cowman of England. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, Casey and Calli, Megan, Emily and Brendan, Finn, Kate and Nuala, Nora and Ronan and great grand daughter Josephine, all of whom brought great joy to his life and were a source of immense pride.
Bartley will be remembered for his steady presence, his strong work ethic, and the kindness he showed to those around him. He was a man who valued family above all else, and he lived his life with humility, loyalty, and love. His memory will remain a lasting blessing to all who knew him, especially to the family and friends who were fortunate to share in his life.
