Brennan, Barbara E. (McNamara), age 95, of Braintree, formerly of Dorchester, passed away peacefully at home June 16. Born and raised in Dorchester, she attended Dorchester High School for Girls. She worked many years for the Massachusetts Division of Insurance before retiring as an Insurance Examiner.
Barbara lived in Braintree for 46 years and over the past several years she enjoyed her time with friends at the Braintree Senior Center. Although suffering from failing eye sight, Barbara, a voracious reader, filled her home with the constant sound of books on tape and kept up with the latest best sellers thanks to her friends at the Braintree Public Library. She enjoyed her flower gardens, traveling, discussing current events, and especially spending time with her children, 8 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
Beloved wife of the late Edward J. Brennan. Devoted mother of Edward J. Brennan Jr. and his wife Peggy of Hingham, Stephen F. Brennan and his wife Catherine, Paul R. Brennan and his companion Catherine Durnin, all of Milton, and Donna M. Brennan and Patricia A. Brennan, both of Weymouth. Cherished grandmother of 8 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Beloved daughter of the late Frank and Edith (Meyer) McNamara, and sister of the late Doris Welch.
Funeral Service at the Funeral Home Tuesday, June 22 at 11 AM. Visiting hours at the Alfred D. Thomas Funeral Home, 326 Granite Ave., Monday, June 21 from 4-8 PM.
