Aristea M. (Oliveira) Vasconcelos, affectionately known as Vada to family and friends, passed away after a short illness on May 10, 2024 at the age of 87.
Aristea was born on April 20, 1937 to the late Viriato P. and Dea (Nunes) Oliveira on the island of Brava, Cape Verde, Portugal. At the age of 25, Aristea, along with her husband and (then) 2 young sons, relocated to Boston where they spent many years before moving to Milton and then Sharon.
Aristea was preceded in death by her devoted and faithful husband of 65 years, Joseph. His departure from this earth just a short 17 months ago left a huge hole in her heart. She missed him dearly every day.
In addition to being a loving wife, Aristea was a wonderful, caring and selfless mother to George and his wife Paula, Ved and his wife Carolann and Joe and his wife Jean. Her love for her grandchildren Robert and his wife Samantha, Michael and his wife Samantha, Jennifer, Amanda, Justin and his wife Kelsey, Christopher, Joseph and his wife Brittany and Nolan and her great grandchildren Mason, Miles, Evelyn and Ian was immeasurable. Aristea was at her happiest when we were all together, whether it be for a birthday, a holiday or just sitting around the table with a cup of coffee, no matter how crowded or noisy it got.
Aristea is survived by her dear sister-in-law Celeste. She was preceded in death by her brother-in-law Servulo and sister-in-law Luiza..
Visitation will be held from 8:30am to 10:00am on Tuesday, May 14th at Alfred Thomas Funeral Home, 326 Granite Avenue, Milton, followed by a funeral mass at St. Agatha Parish, 432 Adams Street, Milton. Burial will immediately follow at Cedar Grove Cemetery in Dorchester.
