Anna T. (O'Brien) Donahue Obituary

Anna T. Donahue, age 100, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Monday, November 4, 2024. Anna was born in Dorchester, May 2, 1924 to the late John O’Brien of Tipperary, Ireland, and Margaret (Connaughton) O’Brien of Galway, Ireland. Anna grew up in Dorchester and graduated from the Jeremiah E. Burke High School in Dorchester. She raised her family of seven children with her late husband David Donahue of Glace Bay, Canada. Anna moved to Quincy in 1967 and continued to raise her children. In her later years, Anna was also a long-time resident of Milton, living at Winter Valley Senior living residences for twenty-eight years. Anna had many dear friends through-out her life and was loved for her kindness, compassion, and caring. Anna taught a Women’s Bible study at Winter Valley for many years and was still teaching at the age of 94.


Anna leaves a legacy of love of family and love of God. She was a member of Glad Tidings church in Quincy for many years and taught Sunday school for over forty years. Anna loved studying God’s word and teaching His word to children and adults. She dedicated her life to bringing the Gospel message to her family and her many friends.


Anna’s life was marked by her strong faith, compassion for others, and an unwavering commitment to her family. Anna took care of her many grandchildren, and each one was very special to her. Anna left a rich family legacy of faith to her seven children: Mother of David Donahue and longtime partner Donna Kemp of Whitman, Mary O'Brien and husband John O’Brien of Hull, William Donahue and wife Dasey Donahue of Wakefield, NH, Bernadette Donahue and husband Tony Arrufat of Quincy, James Donahue and wife Patti Donahue of Cedarville, and Stephen Donahue and wife Dawn Donahue of Quincy. She was predeceased by her daughter, the late Margaret Barthelemey.


Grandmother of sixteen grandchildren: Kilie Donahue, Todd Donahue, the late Mikel Donahue, Jake Donahue, Ann Long, Paul Long, the late James Long, Maureen O’Brien, Joseph Donahue, Julie Donahue, the late Michael Arrufat, David Arrufat, Kelli Patrick, JP Donahue, Mathew Donahue, and Nathan Donahue.


Great grandmother of fifteen great grandchildren: Xavier Donahue, twins - Hannah & Alex, Jessie Jurgensen, Jacob Dale, Lauren Long, Haley Long, Evan Logn, Amy Long, Cory Long, Jacalynn Donahue, JJ Donahue, Isabelle and Mackenzie Barns and Ryleigh Patrick.


Visiting hours at the Fort Square Presbyterian Church 16 Pleasant St. Quincy Friday morning from 10:00 to 11:00 am. A Funeral service will follow the visitation at 11:00 am. Burial Mt Hope Cemetery, Boston.
