Amy (Dawood) Reeves, a beacon of love and care, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 24, 2024 surrounded by her loving family and friends. Born and raised in Boston, Amy’s life was a testament to her kindness, friendliness and unwavering spirit of generosity. She was a graduate of Roslindale High School. Her roots in the community were deep, and she carried the essence of her upbringing throughout her life. Amy was the life of the party, the dancing queen and the second mom to many. Her warmth and friendliness turned her home into a welcoming haven for all who knew her.

Amy grew up as one of four girls, in a lively home constantly filled with the laughter of friends and family. The backyard was a place of endless play, where the sisters would chase one another and explore together. Amy was the brave and adventurous one and her sisters would call upon her to do new things together. Amy loved helping in the garden, where they would pick grape leaves, to later stuff together in the kitchen – a space that was always filled with the warm aroma of a meal in the making.  It was here that Amy’s deep love for cooking and opening her home was born. She found joy in gathering with people around her table, just as she had experienced in her childhood home. Amy’s warmth extended to her love for her pets, who brought her so much comfort and companionship. They were cherished members of her family, always by her side.

Amy dedicated many years of service as a Certified Home Health Aid for the VNA in Boston. Her work was not just a job, but a calling, as she naturally extended her innate caregiving abilities to those in need. Her gentle touch, comforting presence, and ready smile made a lasting impact on the lives of countless individuals and their families.

Amy’s zest for life was evident in her love of laughter and dance. She enjoyed listening to live music (especially Slim Langan), attending concerts and the simple pleasure of getting together with friends and family. Her presence was a source of joy, and her ability to find happiness in everyday moments was infectious.

Her capacity for love spilled over into her family life, where she was a devoted sister, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. In her personal life, Amy was the embodiment of the neighborhood mom and caregiver. She was a person who would go out of her way to help anyone in need, offering not just assistance, but also her heart.

She is survived by her daughters, Melissa Dawood of Revere, Heather Dawood and her husband Thilo Vollrath of Providence, RI, and her granddaughter, Amanda Dawood and her partner Brett Spellman of Stoughton. Amy was a cherished sister to Cathy Rocheleau of Randolph, Barbara Smith and her husband Mickey of St. Petersburg, FL, and Eloise Carey and her husband Richard of Walpole. Her legacy extends to her niece Lisa Geldmacher and her husband Peter, her nephews, Robert Rocheleau and his wife Dawn of Taunton, William Rocheleau of Randolph, Richard and Bryan of Walpole, her grandchildren, Davon Johnson, Lenerick Budron, and Terrick Budron, all of Milton, and she was a doting great-grandmother (Gigi) to Scarlett and Violet Spellman of Stoughton and Kaden Johnson of Boston. Amy was preceded in death by her parents, Emile and Helen Dawood, her grandson, Eric Dawood and her brother-in-law Robert Rocheleau.

Those who knew Amy will remember her for the love she shared so freely. She was the kind of person who lit up a room and warmed the hearts of everyone she encountered. Her laughter, her dancing and her unwavering kindness are the memories that her family and friends will carry forward. She was a remarkable woman who lived a full life of passion, kindness, and care. Amy will be profoundly missed, but her spirit will continue to inspire and guide us. Her legacy of love will live on through the many lives she touched.
