Adolph S. Persico, affectionately known as Dolphy by those close to him, concluded his rich and loving journey through life on February 27, 2025, passing away peacefully at the age of 99. Born on January 16, 1926, in Boston, MA, to the late Peter and Letizia (Bortolotti) Persico.
A proud graduate of Hyde Park High School, Dolphy's sense of duty and adventure led him to enlist in the Navy straight out of high school, where he honorably served his country during World War II aboard the USS LCS 23 as a Gunners Mate. His dedication to service set a powerful example for his family and friends—illustrating the very principles of love and commitment to his country that he would carry throughout his life.
Following his service, Dolphy returned to Boston and built a life as a skilled Brass Finisher at FAW Armstrong, where he dedicated many years of diligent work. In 1952, he married Julie (Sullivan) Persico.
He is survived by his devoted daughter, Terry and her husband Joe of Weymouth, and preceded in death by his son, the late Peter Persico of Dorchester. A loving brother of the late Mackie Persico and his wife Thelma, Shanty Persico and his wife Louise, and Ollie Farrell and her husband Ed. Dolphy was a doting grandfather, known as Pa, to T.J. Hurrie and his wife Beth Sweeney of Sandwich, and Patrick Hurrie and his wife Ashley of Kingston. His joy further multiplied with his great-grandchildren, Kennedy and Jonathan. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
