Violanda "Lyda" Martinelli

Violanda “Lyda” Martinelli (Garaffo), age 99, of Milton passed away December 25th at home surrounded by her loving family.  Born in Fitchburg, she was raised in Roxbury and previously lived in Randolph before moving to Milton in 1950.  She enjoyed spending time at the Milton Council on Aging, travelling, cooking, going to Foxwoods, bowling, crocheting and spending time with her grandchildren.  She was a devoted housewife and mother and previously worked as a Waitress at the Milton Hill House. Beloved wife of the late Joseph A.  Mother of Susan Martinelli and her Partner Bob Meehan of Milton and Joseph A. Martinelli and his wife Kathy of Milton.  Grandmother of Joseph Martinelli of Dorchester, Michelle Francis and her husband Kevin of Weymouth and Christine Martinelli of Milton.  Sister of the late Guy, Tony, and John Garaffo, Louise Maker, Clara Schepis, Mary Gaynor, Josephine Lynch, Angelina Garaffo and Frances Maiorano.   Visiting hours at the Alfred D. Thomas Funeral Home 326 Granite Ave Milton Friday 4-8 pm.  Funeral Mass at Mary of the Hills Church, Milton Saturday morning at 10:00.  Burial Milton Cemetery.  Donations may be made in her memory to the Milton Council on Aging 10 Walnut St. Milton, MA 02186.
