Timothy Francis Hurley

Timothy F. Hurley, of Milton, passed away surrounded by his loving family, on Thursday, March 14, 2019 at the age of 95. Born in South Boston in 1923, he as was the eldest child of the late James and Katherine Hurley. The family resided at 108 I Street. Mr. Hurley attended Gate of Heaven Grammar School, and as a youth participated in the activities of the Oliver James House in So. Boston.  He graduated from Boston English High School in 1941 and began his employment at The First National Bank of Boston as a bank messenger in December that year.

Tim was a decorated Army Veteran of WW II, where he was awarded the Bronze Star. He served for over 3 years with the U.S. Army with the 54th Armored Infantry Regiment. For over a year he was involved in the European Theatre. After the War he attended Boston University and returned to the Bank. Mr. Hurley had a series of promotions during his career which culminated in his appointment as First Vice President and head of the Foreign Exchange Department in 1981. He was a member of Forex U.S.A. and the Association Cambiste International, Paris.

Married to his beloved wife Audrey C. (Johnson) Hurley for 70 years, he was the devoted father of Diane H. Juliano and her husband Edward of Sudbury and Jayne H. Morgan and her husband Paul of Melrose and the cherished grandfather of Audrey Becker and her husband Jason of W. Newbury, Edward “Ted” Juliano and his wife Maren of Salem, James Morgan and his wife Morgan of Danvers and Diana Morgan of Roslindale, as well as, the great grandfather of Timothy, Elizabeth and Margaret Becker and Ellery Morgan. He was also the brother of Joan Canty of New Mexico. 

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Agatha Church, Milton Monday, March 18, 2019 at 12 noon.  Visiting will be held at the Alfred D. Thomas Funeral Home, 326 Granite Ave., Milton Monday morning prior to the mass from 10:30 to 11:30.  Burial in Milton Cemetery.  Donations may be made in his memory to the ARC of South Norfolk, 789 Clapboardtree St. Westwood, MA 02090.  For complete obituary and guestbook see www.alfreddthomas.com
