Thomas F. Rowan went to be with the Lord on Saturday June 16, 2018. He was born and raised in Savin Hill, the seventh child born to Anastasia (Byrne) and William Rowan. He attended St Williams School, English High School and Coyne Electric. He was a licensed electrician and enlisted in the Navy in 1942 and was a veteran of World War II. Once home from the war, Tom married the love of his life, Eleanor Mahoney of Uphams Corner. He was employed as a machinist for the MBTA and later became their Chief Automotive Officer.
Tom, also known as AJAX, was a man of strong faith. He took great pride in his family and his work. He instilled a strong work ethic in his children as well as his grandchildren. Tom was an excellent golfer and enjoyed playing a round with his friends and family. He was an avid reader and loved to share his knowledge.
He was the loving father of Tom (Donna) of CA, David (Cathleen) of E Bridgewater, Stephen (Pegeen) of Whitman, John (Mary) and Judi (Peter), all of Milton, Michael (Donna) of Quincy and Mark (Lynn) of Brookline NH, as well as the adoring grandfather of Keith, Brett, Paul,Catie,Brian, Jen, Jeff,Amanda, Lauren, Patrick, Paige Rowan and Peter and Matthew Simonelli and the late Christopher Rowan. Great grandfather to Taylor Carlson and Christopher and Will Rowan. Step grandfather of Conor, Aiden and Lily Milmoe.
Tom was pre deceased by his three brothers and three sisters. He is survived by many nieces and nephews.
Tom was from the Greatest Generation and lived a long and happy life.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Agatha Church, Milton, Friday morning at 10:30. Visiting hours will be held at the Alfred D. Thomas Funeral Home, 326 Granite Ave., Milton, Thursday 4 to 8 PM. Burial will be in Milton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to The Christopher Rowan Memorial, 28 Old Pine Drive, Hanson, MA 02341.
