Patricia Sheehan Obituary

Sheehan, Patricia L. (Hines) 85 years old of Milton passed away on December 27, 2018 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Beloved wife, partner, and soulmate of 60 years of Cornelius (Connie) Sheehan. Devoted, loving, and always supportive mother of Mary Rita Haines and her husband George of Quincy, Neil Sheehan and his wife Ana (Machado)of Milford, Beth and Frank Sheehan of Milton, and Katie O’Brien and her husband Bob of Milton. Doting and thoughtful Nanny of Meghan Haines of Pembroke, Christi Mercurio of Norwell, George and Emily Haines of Quincy, C.J., and Caitlin Sheehan of Milford, Juliana Sheehan of Milford and Brighton, and Tim and Maggie O’Brien of Milton. Great Nanny of Kathleen and Patrick Kindregan and Daniel Mercurio. She is survived by her sister-in-law Janet Hines of Dedham and many loving nieces and nephews. Devoted sister of the late David F. Hines, Sr. and sister-in-law of the late Peggy Ladas and Joan Delahoyde. Patricia began her life in Dorchester and spent the remainder of her life living in Milton. She attended Collicot Elementary School in Milton from Grades 1 through 5, on to St. Gregory’s School, Dorchester for Grades 6-8, then to Notre Dame Academy, which was then in Roxbury, for her high school years. These schools and her wonderful Catholic education led her to Boston College where she received her RN, BSN. Her nursing career led her to Saint Elizabeth’s Hospital Brighton and Quincy City Hospital. It was at Quincy City where she met her future sister-in-law Peggy, also a nurse there, who set her up on a blind date and forever love with her husband, Connie. Her Faith in God was evident in her actions as wife, mother and “Nanny”. She was a faithful member of Saint Agatha Parish for over 80 years, always imparting her faith so her children and grandchildren would have a wonderful relationship with God and Jesus . She was kind, thoughtful, and her heart was always looking for the good in people, often stopping to help a person in need. After raising her children, Patricia returned to work and began her second career as a Boston Public School nurse serving the children of Boston, primarily in the Mattapan and Hyde Park communities. Upon retirement, Patricia would watch over her grandchildren, often picking them up at school, and keep a watchful eye out. Helping with homework and watching her grandchildren while their parents were away were some of her most joyous times. Sharing a cottage down the Cape each summer with Connie and her children, grandchildren, and extended family, finally settling in New Silver Beach, were cherished times that she  looked forward to each summer. Faith in God and being with family were her soul’s nourishment. Friends and family are welcome to share their condolences with the family and say “Until we meet again” to Patricia at a wake to be held on Friday, January 4, 2019 from 4PM - 8PM at Alfred Thomas Funeral Home, at 326  Granite Ave in Milton.
