Maureen B. Casey

Casey, Maureen B., age 81, of Quincy, formerly of Mattapan, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 9, 2019. Devoted daughter of the late Joseph J.and Margaret (Lydon) Casey. Dear sister of John Gallegos and his wife Terri of NC and the late Donna Emery. Loving aunt of Mike and Cathy Chaisson of Dedham, Godmother to Anne Marie Folan of Ireland and cherished great aunt of Michael, Elizabeth, and James Andrew. She is also survived by many relatives and friends both here and in Ireland. Maureen was a retired Boston Public School Teacher of the Charles Sumner Elementary School. She was devoted to God, Jesus and the Catholic church from a young age. She carried her love for God into the lives of those around her. Compassionate and charitable, Maureen was a faithful sister and second mother to the many foster children who passed through her Mom’s home. A graduate of (then) Boston State Teacher’s College, she became a dedicated elementary school teacher and avid sports fan. Her love for sports included the Red Sox, Celtics, Bruins and Patriots; although her fist love was the Boston Red Sox’s Ted Williams. After retiring from teaching she spent 10 years living in Dennis working in the library and enjoying her favorite Corporation Beach. Thereafter she spent her retirement at her Quincy condo, teaching Sunday School and attending daily Mass. Visitation will be held at St. Elizabeth’s Church, 350 Reedsdale Rd., Milton, Thursday morning, October 17, 2019,  from 9 to 10 am followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 am. Burial in St. Joseph Cemetery, West Roxbury at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Catholic Charities.
