Mary T Ryan

Mary T. Ryan, age 92, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 20, 2018.  The matriarch of the Ryan family spent most of her life in Boston. First she resided in Jamaica Plain for many years and then moved to Milton. She graduated from St. Thomas Aquinas High School. During her senior year, because of good grades and shortage of the work force, she worked at Jordan Marsh. After graduation she worked for Kinney Manufacturing Co, then moved on to Heartstone Insurance Co., where she became their first woman paymaster, and remained there until her retirement.

Mary was fun loving and the life of the family parties. Age did not deter her youthful spirit. At eighty she was still swimming as if she were twenty. She liked to travel and Ireland and Hawaii became her favorites. She was an avid reader and belonged to a book club. She enjoyed knitting and sewing but her true love was cooking. Mary made many enjoyable meals for family gatherings. She will truly be missed.

Besides her sister Ann Ryan of Milton and Brother Daniel of Middleboro, she leaves many nieces and nephews: Bernadette (Ryan) Foley, Michael Ryan, Judith Ryan, Christine (Ryan) Caci, David Ryan, Patricia Ryan and Stephen Ryan. She also leaves a grandniece and a grandnephew. She was the sister of the late Bernard M. Ryan. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Elizabeth Church, 350 Reedsdale Rd., Milton, Tuesday, morning, September 25, 2018, at 11am. A visiting hour will be held at the Alfred D. Thomas Funeral Home, 326 Granite Ave., from 9:30 to 10:30 am, prior to the Mass.  Burial in Milton Cemetery.
