Mary C. O'Gorman

Mary C. O'Gorman, age 96, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 25, 2018. Born and raised in Boston, she had resided in Milton for many years and most recently had been a resident of Marlborough. Mary was a graduate of Girls Latin School at Codman Square in Dorchester. She retired after a 43 year employment as a Supervisor from the State of Massachusetts Industrial Accident Board. A longtime volunteer of Milton Hospital she received recognition and an award for having served for over 7,000 hours as a volunteer. Mary was an active member and Eucharistic Minister of St. Mary of the Hills Church. She enjoyed traveling and had traveled worldwide. She also was an avid reader and thoroughly enjoyed the opera. Throughout her life she had attended many operas in New York. Additionally, Mary was a talented knitter often making gifts for family and friends. The devoted daughter of the late Gaynor & Mary (McDermott) O’Gorman, she was the dear sister of the late Sr. Eileen O’Gorman RSCJ, Mrs. Kathleen Hurley, Gaynor O’Gorman and Vincent O’Gorman. She was the aunt of Cathy L. Fagone of Marlborough and is also survived by 10 loving nieces and nephews, as well as, numerous grand nieces and nephews and great grand nieces and nephews. Mary was the aunt of the late Eileen and Mary Hurley. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary of the Hills Church, Milton, Thursday morning, August 30, 2018 at 10 am. Visiting will be held at the Alfred D. Thomas Funeral Home, 326 Granite Ave., Milton, 8:30 to 9:30 prior to Mass. Burial will follow the Mass in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Roslindale, MA.
