M. Eileen Fitzgerald

M. Eileen Fitzgerald, age 82, of Dorchester passed away at home January 8th.  Born in Waterbury, CT, she was raised Waterbury, CT and attended Albertus Magnus College in New Haven.  Eileen worked as a teacher in Naugatuck, Connecticut and Braintree Public Schools and most recently as a Social Worker for the Sharon Public Schools for 35 years.  She was active in the METCO Program in the Sharon Public Schools and the AIDS Action Committee of Boston.  She was an avid reader, enjoyed creative writing and traveling, and was also extremely proud of the accomplishments of her niece and nephews.    

Loving daughter of the late James and Mary Fitzgerald.  Lifelong friend of Jonna B. Sundberg of Dorchester.  Beloved sister of James F. Fitzgerald and his wife Judith of Stuart, FL.  Aunt of Colleen Buttery, James, Patrick, Michael, and Robert Fitzgerald.  Visiting hours at the Alfred D. Thomas Funeral Home, 326 Granite Ave, Milton Friday 4-7 pm.  Funeral Mass at St. Elizabeth Church, 350 Reedsdale Rd, Milton Saturday morning at 11:30.  Burial private.  Donations may be made in Eileen’s memory to Friends of the Truro Meeting House, Box 149, Truro, MA 02666.
