Kathleen (Meehan) Greenan

Kathleen Meehan Greenan of Milton, previously of Quincy, was born in Mounttown, Co. Sligo, Ireland on April 17, 1922 to Thomas and Agnes Meehan (nee McTiernan). She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Eugene, and her children Imelda Greenan, Eileen Fowler (husband Gary and children Caitlin and Danny), Eugene Greenan (wife Lisa and children Luke, Beth and Theo), Kathy Gould (husband Eric and children Trevor, Austin and Connor) and Patrick Greenan (wife Tracy and children Kyle and Keara) and her sister Agnes.  Her son, Michael, preceded her in death in 2006 as well as her siblings Michael, Mary Kingdon, Thomas and Patrick. 

Kathleen was a devout Catholic who never said an unkind word about anyone. She loved her large extended family and returned to her Irish home every year to visit with them. She loved to socialize and go dancing at the Irish social clubs, and was a long-standing member of the Leitrim club. She also loved organizing family get-togethers and believed in "the more, the merrier." She had a great smile and great welcome for anyone who came to her home.

She worked for the British Civil Service in England and Germany at the end of World War II. In her late 20's, she came to Canada where she met her beloved husband.  After immigrating to the U.S., she worked for many years in banking. In 1996 at the age of 74, she fulfilled her dream of obtaining a Bachelors degree from Harvard University, receiving the Santo Joseph Aurelio prize for academic achievement and character.

She was a wonderful wife and mother who opened her heart to everyone she met. She will truly be missed.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Agatha Church, Milton, Monday morning at 10:30. Visiting hours will be held at the Alfred D. Thomas Funeral Home, 326 Granite Ave., Milton Sunday 4 to 7 PM. Burial in Milton Cemetery.
