Joseph R. O’Connor, age 88 of Quincy, formerly of Dorchester passed away at home June 28th surrounded by his loving family. Born in Boston, he was raised in S. Boston and Dorchester and attended Dorchester High School. He went on to serve in the Army during WW II and worked as a self-employed contractor for many years before retiring. He also was the Manager of Eddie’s Tavern in Dorchester for many years and worked as a Starter at Ponkapoag Golf Course in Canton after retirement. Joe was an avid golfer and a member and Past President of American Legion Post 114 in Milton. He was also a member of the Quincy Elks and the Past Commissioner of the American Legion Baseball League.
Beloved husband of the late Jeanne E. (Susan). Father of Joseph D. O’Connor and his fiancé Lutie M. Lucas of Quincy, Michael W. O’Connor and his wife Margaret of Holbrook, Sean J. O’Connor of Quincy and the late Patrick J. Brother of the late Irene Wiley and Francis O’Connor. Also survived by 4 grandchildren and 1 great grandson. Visiting hours at the Alfred D. Thomas Funeral Home 326 Granite Ave Milton Sunday 4-8 pm. Funeral Mass at St. John the Baptist Church Quincy Monday morning at 10:00. Burial St. Joseph’s Cemetery W. Roxbury.
