James M. Sheehan

James M. Sheehan, a lifelong resident of Milton, passed away unexpectedly after a short illness, at the age of 72. Jim was born with cerebral palsy and never once complained about his disabilities. He lived a full life and was a great example of a life well lived.  After graduating from the Milton Public Schools, he attended the University of Massachusetts in Boston where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology.  He was an avid sports fan, a devotee of the Boston Bruins, New England Patriots, and the Boston Red Sox. He loved playing goalie in his wheelchair with family and friends.

Jim was outgoing and had a wonderful sense of humor. He loved parties, holidays, cruises, Foxwoods and good times. Jim also loved his dogs, Spotty, Buster and Beau. He enjoyed music and wheeling around Milton and Cunningham Park. He also spoke to students at the Collicot Elementary School about being a disabled person. Jim will be sorely missed by his family, relatives and friends.

He was the beloved son of the late Andrew and Gertrude Sheehan, formerly of Milton. Jim was the husband of the late Pauline Sheehan, loving brother of the late Andrew Sheehan, Jr. the late Anne Adrien and her husband Jack, Gertrude Williams of Melrose and the late George Williams, and Mary and Gregory Cahill of Braintree. Jim was also the uncle of George and Andrew Williams, Kathleen Murphy and Maureen and Gregory Cahill, as well as, the loving granduncle of Lily, Nicholas, Patrick, Shannon and Allison. He was the longtime friend of Noel Schaub of Milton.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Agatha Church, Milton, Thursday, October 11, 2018 at 9 am. Visiting hours will be held at the Alfred D. Thomas Funeral Home, 326 Granite Ave., Milton,  Wednesday, October 10, 2018 from 4 to 8 PM. Burial will be in Milton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers,  donations may be made to Milton Animal Shelter, 181 Governor Stoughton Lane, Milton, MA, 02186 or to Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital- Milton, 199 Reedsdale Road, Milton, MA 02186.
