Estela Z. Peralta, 76, of Boston, died Friday, November 15, 2019, in the North End Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center, Boston, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Estela was born June 12, 1943, in Balungao, Pangasinan, Philippines the daughter of Eulalio and Juliana (Zambrano) Peralta. She graduated from Rosales National High School, received a bachelor's degree in Business Administration from The University of the East in Manila, and earned her CPA certificate.
Estela traveled to the United States in October 1969, staying with family in California and the Boston area. In January 1970 she began a 40 year career in the Financial Services business as a dedicated employee at New England Merchants National Bank (later Bank of New England), Investors Bank and Trust, and State Street Corporation.
Estela leaves her sister, Novelita P. Epistola, and her nephews, Erwin and Edmon Epistola of the Philippines, and several aunts, cousins, and other relatives in the US and Philippines. She also leaves her life partner Philip Smith of Brimfield, Massachusetts.
Estela enjoyed visiting and dining out with family and friends. She enjoyed spending time at the farm in Brimfield, where she watched the cows and calves, and hummingbirds and other wildlife. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, baking, and helping with haying. Estela was an avid fan of the Celtics, Patriots, and Red Sox, and especially enjoyed her sixteen years as a Celtics season ticket holder.
Estela was a happy, caring, warmhearted person who had many friends. She had a great sense of humor and great curiosity. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her; we will hold her in our hearts and celebrate her life always.
