Elaine M. “Bootsie” Duran (Drew) of Canton, formerly of Milton passed away June 5th at home surrounded by her loving family. Born in Boston, she was raised in Mattapan and graduated from Notre Dame Academy. Bootsie went on to earn her Bachelors and Master’s in Education from Boston State College and was an Elementary School Teacher in the Boston Public Schools for 37 years before retiring. She was an avid Red Sox and Celtics fan and enjoyed spending time at Twin River Casino. She was a devoted grandmother and enjoyed spending time with her 7 grandchildren.
Beloved wife of the late Luis F. Mother of Luis F. “BL” Duran, Jr., Katie Bowen and her husband Casey of Canton, and Johnny Duran of Rockland. Sister of Barbara Roper and her late husband William of Milton, John “Buzz” Drew and his wife Eleanor of Plymouth and Mari Drew of Milton. Devoted grandmother of Henry, Brady, Drew, Mia, and Julia Bowen and Jack and Isa Duran. Sister in law of Oscar Duran of Las Vegas, Elsa Castillo and her husband Eduardo of Guatemala, and the late Ricardo Duran and his wife Odette. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Visiting hours at the Alfred D. Thomas Funeral Home 326 Granite Ave Milton Sunday 2-6 pm. Funeral Mass at St. Mary of the Hills Church Milton Monday morning at 10. Burial Milton Cemetery. Retired Elementary School Teacher Boston Public Schools. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Hospice of the South Shore 30 Reservoir Park Dr. Rockland, MA 02370.
